STRUCTURAL UPLIFT AS GEOLOGICAL BARRIER IN THE TRANSPORT OF POLLUTION TO THE GROUNDWATER IN THE VICINITY OF THE LANDFILL SITE
Keywords: structural uplift, groundwater, hydrogeological conditions, landfill site
Abstract: The paper presents the significance of structural uplift as geological barrier in the transport of pollution to the groundwater environment based on monitoring studies in the vicinity of the municipial “Otwock-Świerk” land-fill. The object is located in the Garwolin Plateau – a presently denudated morainic plateau formed during the Middle Polish Glaciations. The waste is located in the area where there are no Quaternary aquifer horizons of local or regional importance.
