DETERMINATION OF THE COEFFICIENT OF CONSOLIDATION (CV) BY USING IL AND CL METHODS, ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ORGANIC SOILS
Keywords: organic soils, coefficient of consolidation, oedometer test, incremental loading test IL, continuous loading test CL
Abstract: The article presents the results of oedometer test (IL – incremental loading) and consolidation test (CL – continuous loading) on the examples of sandy and clayey organic mud, which were made to estimate the coefficient of consolidation (cv). According to Leonards and Girault classification, the different types of consolidation curve were analyzed. The results of cv from three methods were compared. The coefficients of consolidation from IL test were determined by Taylor and “quasi-constans section” method, however cv were determined from CL test by Dobak’s method which is related with pore water pressure parameter CCL and relative time of consolidation TCL.
