ANALYSIS OF DETRIMENTAL EFFECT OF TRAFFIC RAILWAY VIBRATIONS ON OFFICE BUILDING – CASE STUDY
Keywords: traffic vibrations, subsoil, harmfulness of vibrations
The paper includes an analysis of a detrimental effect of railway traffic vibrations transmitted from the subsoil
on the structural and finishing elements of an office building near the railroad in the urbanized area, as
well as the effect of these vibrations on people in this building using national standard dynamic effect scales
(SWD’s) based on in situ measurements. During these experiments performed in natural conditions, the
values of acceleration of vibration in time were recorded and compared with permissible values according to
Polish Standards PN-85/B-02170 and PN-88/B-02170. The results of the above analysis for this representative
building were used in construction process of an office building of similar technical characteristics in the
immediate vicinity of this building.
