Factors influencing evaluation of rigidity index from in situ tests
Keywords: SDMT, SCPTU, shear strength modulus G0
The article attempts to determine the significance of the influence of the following variables on the rigidity
index: liquidity index, plasticity index, overconsolidation ratio and effective vertical stress (σ′v0). A global
function was defined, as well as partial functions, which predict shear strength modulus G0 values based on
cone resistance for different soil groups with varying OCR values. The significance of the influence of the
analyzed variables on the variability of the rigidity index (IR) was also examined. The analysis used the results
of more than 100 static SCPTU and SDMT tests. Investigations were conducted in several locations in
Poland, where the subsoil is constructed from soils of different geological origin.
