Analysis of harmful effects of vibrations and noise coming from construction works on existing buildings and people living in them
Keywords: vibrations and noise coming from building site, waves propagation in subsoil, harmfulness of vibrations and noise on the building environment
The paper presents a diagnostic analysis in situ of the harmful effect of both vibrations and noise coming
from construction works related to the deep foundation on neighboring existing buildings and people living
in those buildings. The vibrations were transmitted through the ground surface, and the noise – by air. Before
the start of these construction works, preliminary tests were carried out at the construction site in order
to determine the so-called vibroacoustic ambient background and analyze the water-soil conditions for the
propagation of waves in this subsoil. The empirical scope of admissible values of vibrations and noise coming
from construction working equipment during earthworks connected with digging of diaphragm walls on
the construction site to the nearby surroundings was established using the empirical method.
