Condition assessment of the reinforcing bars for selected elements of the bus station structure in Kielce after 34 years of use
Keywords: bus station in Kielce, concrete cover, detection of reinforcing bars, corrosion of reinforcement
The paper presents the results of the research, which aimed at assessing the condition of reinforcement and
measuring the concrete cover thickness for selected elements of the structure of the most recognizable object
in Kielce, i.e. PKS station, located at Czarnowska Street. Currently, preparatory works are underway resulting
from the planned modernization of the bus station. The assessment of the corrosive risk of the reinforcement
in the construction elements was carried out with the use of a semi-nondestructive electrochemical
polarization galvanic impulse measurement method. The use of this method has made it possible to determine
the probability of reinforcement corrosion in the selected areas and to estimate its rate. In order to determine
the diameter and position of the reinforcement and to estimate the concrete cover thickness in the areas corresponding
to the aforementioned measurements, ferromagnetic detection system was used.
