How are parameters of an ordinary concrete affected by ashes generated in thermal treatment of wastewater sediments and used as a substitute of a part of the cement
Keywords: concrete, fly ash, properties of concrete
Application of fly ash from combustion of municipal sewage sludge (FAMSS) in the concrete technology
implements assumptions concerning the waste management adopted by the European Union. The study concerned
the influence of partial replacement of the Portland cement by the ash on strength parameters of
concrete in comparison to the reference concrete The article presents the results of investigations on selected
properties (consistency, water absorption, compressive strength after 28, 56 and 90 days of curing) of ordinary
concretes and concretes containing fly ash from combustion of municipal sewage sludge. To make up
the samples, the Portland cement CEM I 42.5 R and natural aggregate with graining of 0–16 mm were used.
The concrete with siliceous and siliceous admixture was made in three lots to which the ash was added in the
quantity of 5, 10 and 15% of the cement weight. The investigations have shown that the concretes containing
fly ash from combustion of municipal sewage sludge have better strength parameters.
