The numerical analysis combined with the theory of consolidation was used for the foundation of dam embankment
built in stages on soft organic subsoil. The subsoil under the dam was covered with pre-consolidated
organic mud and normally consolidated cohesive soil. The dam was and still is monitored by piezometer
measurements as well as vertical and horizontal benchmarks displacements. The calculations were carried
out using a modified Cam-Clay (MCC) model using CRISP software. A linear-elastic soil model was used
for this embankment during construction. The results of the calculated vertical displacements were compared
with the observed.
